Floristry courses.

Moulton College provides vocational, practical training in beautiful campuses at the heart of Northamptonshire. The College’s floristry courses, taught at Moulton are situated close to a beautiful arboretum, ornamental grounds and surrounded by acres of natural countryside; the perfect inspiration for your floristry projects.

Students have access to an exciting range of specialist floristry resources at Moulton. There are display and photography areas, and the workshop is fitted with industry standard cold-storage. The ornamental grounds just outside the workshop additionally provide access to a wide variety of flora. 

With the College’s strong industry links, there are many opportunities for students to take part in visits to industry, and enter national competitions. Previous students have achieved awards for their work at these events.

Level 1 Diploma in Floristry – in a nutshell

About the course

If you’re interested in a floristry career, with a passion for design, crafts and flowers then this course is for you. You’ll be introduced to the practical and theoretical skills of the industry, strengthening your skills in preparation for further studies. Guided by our expert lecturers expect to learn the basics of floral design and arrangements. At the end of the course you’ll be able to identify common pests and diseases, and correctly recognise a wide range of flowers and create beautiful floral designs. 

Entry requirements

GCSEs at grade 1-2 (E-G) or equivalent or an Entry Level 3 Diploma in a related subject. 

Level 2 Technical Certificate in Floristry – in a nutshell

About the course

This course is designed to further develop your creative skills and in particular, your commercial understanding within the floristry sector. You’ll learn the fundamentals of starting your own business, and the different commercial opportunities available in this exciting industry. Expect to develop your understanding of colour theory when creating floristry displays, and progress your designs for events. You’ll also learn about the maintenance of plants to ensure their long life.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grade 2-3 (D-E) or above or a Level 1 Diploma in a related subject. If you’re an adult and don’t have the above grades, you can still apply to study with us. We will consider your application on the basis of your passion for the subject and previous experience. 

Level 3 Technical Diploma in Floristry – in a nutshell

About this course

This course is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of commercial floristry so you can progress into industry with ease. Expect to improve your business acumen in relation to the floristry retail sector. You’ll also get to test your creative skills by producing floristry displays for large scale functions including weddings. 

Entry requirements

A Level 2 qualification in floristry or substantial work experience in a related industry. Adults interested in this Level 3 Technical Diploma must either have studied at Level 2 or demonstrate significant industry experience.
