The Floristry department at DN colleges group is focussed on the development of practical skills and commercial knowledge enabling our students to source employment and opportunities within the floristry industry.
Our facilities include spacious, modern workshops, a commercial retail florist shop, walk in cooler and display areas.
Work experience opportunities are plentiful for our students with local employers providing meaningful experiences and our onsite Florist shop, Flowers at the Hub continues to support and develop students’ confidence and practical skills while they work in a realistic and busy commercial environment.
As well as the standard course content our students have the opportunity to work on large scale projects such as the floral decoration of the Cast Theatre, Newby Hall, Brodsworth House, Waterfront Restaurant and college displays at prestigious events such as the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
We encourage our students to embrace the world of competitions, and with support they can enter Harrogate Spring and Autumn Flower Shows, Newark and Notts County Show and the colleges own in house competition.
Students enjoy are variety of trips each year including; Harrogate Spring Flower Show, Fleurex, Floral Media, fresh and sundry wholesalers and each term they learn through presentations by industry professionals.
Our courses are delivered by an experienced team with specialist knowledge in education, commercial floristry and national competitions and we are proud to have won the College of the Year and Tutor of the Year titles at the BFA Awards.
