Maintaining standards within our Industry by obtaining industry approved qualifications shows that our members are participating and recording continuous professional development. Therefore showing, without doubt, that you are an active and enthusiastic member of the industry.

By joining the Institute of Professional Florists (IPF) you are agreeing to adhere and uphold the aims and objectives of the Institute and comply with the membership criteria
Aims of the Institute:
To uphold the professional status of florists in the UK and to encourage florists to engage in the process that will record professional development.
To ensure we maintain consistent high standards within the floristry industry through our training and qualifications.
To support our members to meet their professional development needs and help floristry businesses identify learning opportunities for their teams.
Therefore on joining you must:
Provide and upload evidence of your credentials, in order that you can be endorsed as having met the criteria of the level of membership you have applied for within the required timescale.
Identify personal training and career needs associated with the Floristry Industry.
Regularly maintain evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
After you have been endorsed you will be issued with:
Your Membership certificate, membership card, lapel pin and a copy of the latest BFA Magazine.
You will also be able to use the relevant letters that you will be entitled to use behind your signature (not applicable to students)
You must regularly maintain evidence of ongoing continuous professional development and identify personal training and career needs associated with the Floristry Industry.
The points awarded for various activities can be seen in the file below. Please make sure you will be able/committed to achieving these before applying
Once you have joined the Institute and been endorsed you will be invited to join the Professional Register

£40 per year
In training in the workplace or registered with a college on an industry recognised floristry course from an approved awarding body. Student card or letter from employer/workplace training provider as evidence of training.
Please note this category of membership is only applicable for one year.

£60 per year
Member Florist – successfully achieved an industry recognised floristry Level 2 qualification from an approved awarding body.

£70 per year
Senior Member Florist – successfully achieved an industry recognised floristry Level 3 qualification from an approved awarding body.

£78 per year
Licentiate Florist – successfully achieved an industry recognised floristry Level 4 qualification from an approved awarding body. (City and Guilds Level 4 Higher Diploma in Floristry (ICSF) (HDF) or Foundation Certificate Professional Floristry and Floral Design.)

£78 per year
Fellow Florist – successfully achieved an industry recognised floristry Level 5 qualification from an approved awarding body. (City and Guilds Level 5 Master Diploma in Professional Floristry (NDSF) (MDPF) or BA (Hons) Professional Floristry and Floral Design)

£60 per year
Academic Member Florist Tutor – A floristry tutor (teaching an industry recognised floristry qualification from an approved awarding body) having successfully achieved an industry recognised floristry Level 3 qualification from an approved awarding body.

£78 per year
Academic Fellow Florist Tutor – A floristry tutor (teaching an industry recognised floristry qualification from an approved awarding body) having successfully achieved an industry recognised floristry Level 4 or 5 qualification from an approved awarding body. We will require a teaching qualification certificate.

Bench Trained Florists
We welcome bench trained florists into the Institute and we have criteria portfolio for membership. We ask that you look through the portfolio requirement, download is below, which will be assessed by a panel. If you wish to proceed then contact the IPF Skills Manager at iopf@britishfloristassociation.org and they will talk to you about the next step.
