The BFA Board have released the following statement this morning:
“Changes are afoot at the BFA, as current Chair Nikki Meader will be stepping down from her role following a period of review and discussion with the Board. Nikki has made this decision in light of recent developments within her business and to ensure that the Association remains focused, supported, and forward-facing at all times.
The Board would like to thank Nikki for her considerable dedication and the energy she has brought to the Association throughout her time as Chair. Her contribution to industry representation, strategic direction, and sector-wide initiatives has been invaluable, and we wish her and her family the very best for the future.
Whilst we go through the process of appointing our new Chair, we are pleased to confirm that John Davidson will be stepping in temporarily to ensure that our members continue to be fully supported.
As ever, if you are keen to get involved or want to know more, please get in touch.”
Statement from the Interim Chair of the British Florist Association
“Though it is under unfortunate circumstances, I am honoured to have been selected to serve as Interim Chair of the British Florist Association. I am deeply grateful for the trust and confidence placed in me, and I am committed to leading with honesty, integrity, and passion—values that form the foundation of our mission statement.
Having been closely involved in the BFA’s long-term strategic planning, I understand the importance of continuity and stability during this transitional period. My focus as Interim Chair will be to ensure that, while a new Chair is being appointed, I provide the following to the Association:
- Stability – For both the current Board of Directors and our valued Association Members.
- Continuity – To maintain momentum on key projects and initiatives already underway, ensuring our strategic and financial objectives remain on track.
- Support – For our members, partners, and the wider community. Open communication and accessibility will remain priorities throughout my interim tenure.
- Representation – To uphold the BFA’s voice within the industry, championing the values and standards our members expect.
I look forward to working collaboratively with the Board, staff, partners, and most importantly our members during this time. Together, we will ensure the Association remains strong, focused, and ready for its next chapter.
Finally, I would like to offer my personal appreciation to Nikki Meader for her unwavering dedication to the BFA and the floristry industry as a whole. Though her tenure has concluded earlier than anticipated, she leaves the Association with a stronger platform, wider recognition, and an inspired vision that we are committed to carrying forward. We thank her sincerely and wish her the very best.”
