Southport College Floristry

Based in the heart of Southport town centre, just five minutes walk from the train station, our fantastic Flower Lab, managed by Jane Robbins MDPF, NDSF, PGCE, offers a blooming great range of Floristry courses!
With years of experience in teaching adult learners new skills, our courses are filled with people learning exciting new skills, whether that’s just for fun or for starting budding careers as Florists. The College provides a caring and vibrant environment, where students also gain new friends for life.
Students are encouraged to enter national Floristry events, including the Harrogate, Chorley and Southport flower Shows, regularly bringing home Gold, Silver and Bronze medals! At Southport College we offer amazing opportunities for students to showcase their learning and amazing new abilities.
Younger students and pupils from local high schools also benefit from many enrichment activities throughout the year, with a wealth of wellbeing activities and competitions for them to get involved in.

Our Courses
The curriculum is ever expanding to meet the demand for part-time courses, currently we offer the following courses:

City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate | 1 Year (Part-Time) | Weds 9am – 4pm | September start
City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma | 1 Year (Part-Time) | Weds 9am – 4pm | September start
NCFE Creative Craft Level 1 | 16 Weeks (Part-Time) | Thurs 9am – 12pm or 1pm – 4pm | September start
NCFE Creative Craft Level 2 | 16 Weeks (Part-Time) | Thurs 9am – 12pm or 1pm – 4pm | February start

Short Courses
Throughout the year we also offer a host of seasonal short courses, covering areas such as summer wedding flowers to Halloween pumpkin decoration! Our website is regularly updated with the latest offer our current autumn courses include:
Sympathy Flowers | 5 weeks (Part-Time) | September start
Christmas Floral Displays | 10 weeks (Part-Time) | October start
Christmas Wreath Making | Single sessions

Costs & Guidance
Course Fees: Some of our courses are free to all, and others, such as the Level 1 and 2 courses have course fees. However, depending on your personal circumstances, you may be eligible for fee remission, please get in touch for guidance.

Tools and Materials: Tools and materials are provided, however students are encouraged to bring in their own additional materials (flowers, ribbons, pots, bases etc.) to create even more exquisite displays. Purchasing your own tools is also encouraged but not essential.
