What is Worldskills?
WorldSkills UK Competitions bring together trainees and young people from across the country to compete to be the best in their chosen skills which are as diverse as Floristry to Hairdressing, Landscape Gardening, Electronics and Welding.
It’s about inspiring the next generations to be ambitious in their pursuit of excellence, while equipping them with life-long, world class skills. WorldSkills UK plays a vital role in raising standards, esteem and levels of expertise through out the UK and across the globe.
These talented individuals will be key in helping UK businesses compete on the global stage and raise standards to an international level, which is now more important than ever.

BFA & Worldskills UK
The British Florist Association is the official Indusry Partner organising all the nationwide qualifying heats ahead of the UK grand finals, and attend 3-4 Partner meetings every year. In fact, the BFA was awarded Partner of the Year status in 2014 and given a Special Mention in 2015 as one of the 3 finalists. we in delivering the WorldSkills UK Floristry Competition. The competition is run by the IoPF Chairman Sandie Griffith under the BFA umbrella.
Floristry is one of over 70 competitions in the overall UK Wide skills competitions.
About the competition
Worldskills UK competitions are all about raising standards and encouraging young competitors. The competitions start with the essential registration each year the cut is in April, however, we urge you not to leave it to the last minute click on the link and register your interest today.

The goals of WorldSkills UK are to support business competitiveness, young people’s employability and excellence in standards, they champion world-class apprenticeships and technical skills that equip young people with the skills to help UK business compete. They do this by engaging young people in skills competitions, delivering experiential careers events, role modelling to challenge stereotypes and using our research to support the apprenticeship agenda.
Skills competitions develop a huge amount of confidence and self belief within those competing, it give individuals the opportunity to rub shoulders with the very best in the country in a way that will see their personal growth shoot up.

Encouraging the next generation of competitors
We want to encourage competitiors who fall into the age eligibility category (born on or after January 1 1997) to put themselves forward and compete for a Gold Medal! The young florist competitors that are selected and are age elible will also get the opportunity to compete for a place in the Squad for Worldskills Kazan in 2019. It’s no exaggeration to say this is a life changing opportunity!
Worldskill UK heat competitions
each year heats are held around the UK before the final takes place at Worldskills Live in November at Birmingham NEC, a huge event, registration for the heat competitions begins in the spring of each year, you have to register with the Worldskills UK organisation.
