Five floral designers are set to transform the Garden Museum into an environmentally friendly floral winter wonderland. The inaugural Winter Flowers Week is the new winter counterpart to the Garden Museum’s annual summer exhibition for British Flowers Week. You can discover sustainable festive installations and find inspiration in seasonal British-grown flowers and foliage from exhibitors Shane Connolly & Co, Carly Rogers Flowers, Hazel Gardiner Design, Tattie Rose Studio and Floribunda Rose.

Building on the success of the Garden Museum’s annual summer exhibition British Flowers Week, this new winter edition champions a seasonal and sustainable approach to festive decoration. Five floral designers will transform the museum into a winter wonderland like no other: with sustainability at the heart, their floral installations will be created using only British-grown seasonal flowers and foliage, and environmentally-friendly materials and methods.

The installations will be designed specifically for the historic space and will interact with the Garden Museum’s Grade II* listed building, parts of which date back to 14th century. Visitors can find inspiration for their own festive decorations and florists may find these mechanics for large scale designs very interesting as the designs will be in situ for 5 days.

Alongside championing and using British flowers, they use and teach sustainable floristry methods. The teaching ethos at Floribunda Rose is that floristry should be sustainable; the flowers, the mechanics, the business, and everything in between. Sarah and co-author William Mazuch wrote A Guide to Floral Mechanics, a book written to share their environmentally-friendly floristry methods.

Winter Flowers Week will also include a Friday Late event on Friday 8 December, a chance to see the installations with a drink in hand while enjoying performances and festive floral activities.
