Budding Florists to Bloom At 2025 FPC Fresh Awards

8 September 2025, London – The Fresh Produce Consortium (FPC) and the British Florist Association (BFA) are delighted to announce a floral collaboration that puts fresh talent front and centre at the prestigious 2025 FPC Fresh Awards, taking place on Friday, 26 September at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

In a celebration of creativity, sustainability and next-generation flair, floristry students from colleges across the UK will take the lead in designing and producing the table centrepieces for this year’s esteemed awards, widely known as the ‘Oscars’ of the industry.

This student-powered initiative is being championed by BFA Training & Education Director Jo Biddle, who has launched a national recruitment drive to involve as many aspiring florists as possible – with the majority of participants coming from Capel Manor College, Wigan & Leigh College and Farnborough College of Technology

“The collaboration between the three colleges taking part is a great opportunity for students to work with an amazing events florist, Emma (Orchis Floral Design) in the fabulous and iconic setting of Grosvenor House Hotel,” explained Jo. “The BFA would like to thank the FPC for this exciting opportunity offered to our college members, students and tutors.”

The young creatives won’t be working alone. Tom Brown Wholesale Flowers is proudly partnering with FPC and BFA to provide the floral materials for the designs, sourcing blooms through their trusted network of British growers. Their commitment ensures the arrangements will be not only showstopping but also sustainably and locally sourced.

The project also benefits from the generous support of Smithers-Oasis UK, with Laura Black from their team kindly offering her expertise and assistance in helping the students realise their creative vision.

In addition, Flamingo will be providing the flowers for the award winners on the night.

Once the final design concept is confirmed, students will collaborate under professional guidance to bring the arrangements to life – making this year’s Fresh Awards not only a celebration of industry excellence but also a vibrant platform for fresh, emerging talent.

FPC’s Chief Executive, Nigel Jenney, added: “The Fresh Awards are all about innovation, dedication and the people shaping the future of our industry. This partnership perfectly embodies that spirit – it’s floristry with purpose, passion, and pride.”
