Changes are afoot here at the BFA as we say a heartfelt thank you and farewell to our brilliant Communications Officer, Kate Whelan.
Kate has been a hugely valued part of the BFA board – both as Vice Chair and Communications Officer. Whilst we’re sad to see her go, we’re excited to see what’s next for her – and know she’ll continue to do great things.
Which means… we’re currently recruiting for a new Communications Officer (part-time) to join the BFA. If you’re passionate about floristry, love connecting with people, and want to help shape the voice of our industry, this could be the role for you.
Job Vacancy: Communications Officer (Part-Time, Remote)
British Florist Association (BFA)
Starting: April 2025
Hours: 8 hours per week (with a view to increasing over the year)
Location: Remote / Work from Home
Salary: Dependent on experience
Are you a confident communicator with a flair for writing, an eye for detail, and a passion for the floral industry? The British Florist Association is looking for a part-time Communications Officer to help shape and deliver our voice across the industry.
Working remotely for 8 hours per week to begin with (with hours expected to increase gradually over the course of 2025), this is an exciting opportunity to join the BFA team and play a key role in how we connect with florists, partners, and the wider public.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Writing and managing clear, professional communications across all BFA platforms – including email, social media, website content, newsletters, press releases, printed material and more.
- Ensuring all communication is consistent with BFA’s tone, branding and values.
- Supporting marketing and promotional efforts for BFA events like FleurEx, awards, webinars, and national campaigns.
- Collaborating closely with the CEO, Membership Officer, Sustainability Officer, and the Editor of the BFA Magazine.
- Helping to shape communication strategies and reporting ideas back to the board.
- Supporting design and brand consistency across digital and printed materials.
Who We’re Looking For:
- A strong writer and clear communicator with great attention to detail.
- Someone with a creative approach and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- An understanding of brand identity and visual presentation (experience with basic design tools a bonus).
- Comfortable working remotely and independently, but also happy to collaborate with a team.
- Ideally someone with experience in communications, marketing, PR, or content creation – and an appreciation for the floristry world!
What We Offer:
- Flexible, remote working.
- A supportive and collaborative team environment.
- The chance to be at the heart of the UK’s floristry community and make a real difference to the industry.
- Opportunities to increase your hours and responsibilities as the year progresses.
If you’re passionate about great communication and want to be part of a creative, driven team that supports florists across the UK, we’d love to hear from you!
