A seasonal refresh brought to you by the BFA in collaboration with Morgan-Douglas Nuth
Now that the Mother’s Day madness has passed and spring sunshine is finally streaming through those (possibly streaky) windows, it’s the perfect time to hit pause, take stock, and give your floristry business a good old spring clean.
Yes, we’re talking mops and marigolds – but we’re also talking strategy, systems and setting yourself up for success.
Whether you work from a studio, shop, or home workspace, a proper reset can boost your creativity, refocus your energy, and help you build momentum for the rest of 2025.
Your Shop Floor & Studio Spring Clean Checklist
“Spring is in the air, and just like the flowers are pushing through the soil, it’s the perfect time to refresh and rejuvenate your florist shop. A thorough spring clean isn’t just about appearances; it’s about creating a more welcoming environment for your customers, a more efficient workspace for your team, and ultimately, a more thriving business. So, roll up your sleeves, put on some upbeat tunes, and let’s get blooming!” – Morgan-Douglas Nuth
Take a fresh look at your workspace and give it a well-deserved spruce up:
☐ Wash your windows (inside and out) – let spring shine through!
☐ Wipe down shelves, vases, and plant displays – bye bye dust!
☐ Deep clean buckets, sinks, floors and benches – especially in high traffic areas
☐ Declutter your workspace – dispose of broken pots, unused packaging and organise your tools
☐ Review and rotate your stock – re-merchandise or repurpose older products
☐ Refresh your signage, labels and POS materials – not forgetting your window display!
☐ Freshen up your staff area – Happy Florists = Happy Space!
☐ Service and clean your essential equipment – from printers to tools and tills
Spring Clean Your Business Strategy Too
“Just like your workspace needs clearing out from time to time, so does your business strategy. What used to work might not work now – and what you want to do might have changed too. Stop. Look. Adjust. Then go again with clarity.” — Morgan-Douglas Nuth
Running a floral business is busy. But every now and then, you need to step back and ask: Is this still working for me?
Here’s a mini audit to help you reset:
☐ Digital Declutter: Your Virtual Shopfront: In today’s world, your online presence is just as crucial as your physical one. Give your website and social media a virtual spring clean
☐ Revisit your pricing – Are you factoring in rising costs and charging your worth?
☐ Review your marketing – What’s worked well so far this year? What might need tweaking or phasing out so you can focus your time and energy where it counts? Our partners at Queen Bee have a free review worksheet to help you do this.
☐ Update your website: refresh product images, check pricing and delivery costs, and make simple SEO improvements.
☐ Refresh your social media bios and pinned posts – are they still aligned with your brand and offers?
☐ Take a look at your calendar – What campaigns, events or offers are you planning between now and summer? Build them into your day, and add them to your calendar.
☐ Build in some CPD – Our 2025 HUB Meetings and FleurEx are designed to help you grow, learn, connect, and take your business further. Are you booked in?
You Deserve to Feel Proud of What You’ve Built
This season isn’t just about a cleaner shop floor – it’s about giving yourself the space to grow. You don’t need to do it all in one day, but taking time to review, reflect and reset can help you feel more in control and re-energised for the months ahead.
“As a florist, your creativity and wellbeing are everything – and that’s exactly what we champion at the BFA. Through our HUB Meetings, competitions, FleurEx and member support, we’re here to help florists succeed not just in business, but in themselves. Whatever your goals are this year – we’re by your side.”
