Board Director Vacancies – Apply Now

The British Florist Association (BFA) is seeking expressions of interest from potential Board Directors to be elected at our next Annual General Meeting on 10th December 2025.

As the recognised trade association for floristry in the UK, the BFA was established in 1948 to represent and advocate for our industry. The BFA Board is made up of proactive and passionate leaders whose shared purpose is to guide the strategic direction of the Association and represent our members ensuring we continue to deliver tangible improvements, opportunities, and visibility for the UK floristry sector.

The BFA is a private company limited by guarantee and without share capital. All board members are formally registered as Directors at Companies House. You can find out more about the responsibilities of company directors here: Being a Company Director:

In line with our Articles of Association, the composition of the BFA Board should reflect the diversity of our membership. We currently have two vacancies, and we warmly welcome applications and expressions of interest from anyone who shares our commitment to the growth and success of British floristry.

Diversity and Inclusion

The BFA aims to represent everyone who works within the floristry sector and the businesses they represent. We particularly encourage applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences that can enrich our community and help us better reflect the industry we serve.

Over the past nine months, the BFA has undergone positive change, implementing a strong commercial model that has refreshed, revitalised, and refocused the organisation. While great progress has been made, there is still much more we can do to support florists and lead the sector forward.

A supportive, engaged, and committed board has been key to this progress. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for new board members who can help us innovate, strengthen, and deliver for our members.

We welcome applications from anyone eager to get more involved with the BFA and work collaboratively with both the Executive and Non-Executive teams to shape the Association’s future.

If we were to highlight the qualities we believe would make a strong contribution, they would include:

  • Entrepreneurial spirit – helping to secure the BFA’s long-term sustainability, exploring new ideas and opportunities.
  • Attention to detail – ensuring good governance, accountability, and clarity in all we do.
  • Natural networking ability – representing and promoting the BFA across the sector, engaging with florists and stakeholders to strengthen our community.

The Role

  • This is a voluntary, unpaid position with a three-year term.
  • You’ll be expected to attend board meetings (both online and in-person when required).
  • Board members are actively involved in BFA events, priorities, and projects from supporting initiatives to helping deliver events such as FleurEx.
  • You’ll also act as an advocate for the BFA and its members, engaging through social media and other professional platforms.
  • Any conflicts of interest that could prevent you from fully supporting the BFA’s work must be declared.

If you would like to be considered, please submit your expression of interest — outlining your background, motivation, and what you feel you could bring to the BFA Board — to ceo@britishfloristassociation.org by close of business on 7th November 2025.

Appointments will be confirmed at the Annual General Meeting.

Thank you for your continued support of the BFA and the wider floristry community.
